When I say “the summer of love”, what springs to mind? For me, it’s hippies, groovy music, and a VW Bus. Only in production for 17 years (1950 to 1967), the VW Bus became a favorite with surfers and the surf culture. Now, collectors show their VW love at events like this weekend’s Havasu Buses by the Bridge 2019.

Havasu Buses by the Bridge 2019
While the Havasu Buses by the Bridge 2019 event officially starts tomorrow afternoon, the fun really begins on Friday. Thursday is reserved for settling the everyone into their separate camping spots. VW Bus owners travel from all over the United States just to camp out at our lake shores and hobnob with other bus lovers. You’ll see every type of VW Bus made over the years here. But you don’t have to own a Bus in order to enjoy this event. For just $2 per person, walk on in and see each VW Bus on display. Talk to the owners, too. That $2 is good for the entire weekend. Come back each day so you don’t miss anything.
Several activities are scheduled throughout the entire weekend for all campers at Havasu Buses by the Bridge 2019. Attend the lantern workshop on Friday at 12 pm. Then, take that lantern with you on the Lantern Walk at 7 pm starting at Showmobile. Take a bike ride to the skate park on Saturday morning. Let your kids show off their creativeness in the kids’ coloring contest. Gather your team together to compete in the Corn Hole Tournament Saturday afternoon (16 team maximum). Finish things off with the Boy Scout pancake breakfast on Sunday morning before everyone cleans up their campsites and heads out. Raffles will be held throughout the entire event.
