Dia de los Muertos (“Day of the Dead”) is a Mexican holiday that celebrates the lives of those that have gone before them. Triibutes to deceased relatives in Lake Havasu City include favorite foods, treats and drinks of those who have passed away. Elaborate altars are created by each family decorated with photos, candles, momentos, marigolds and decorated sugar skulls. Lake Havasu Dia de los Muertos 2103 is celebrated on the last day of the official three day event known as Dia de los Meurtos (Oct 31, Nov 1 & Nov 2). Although Americans tend to associate death with sadness, Dia de los Muertos is a cherished day of honor and joy in the Mexican culture.
Celebrate life, death and your ancestors at the Lake Havasu Dia de los Muertos 2013. All participants are asked to bring a dish to share with other guests. For more information, please contact the Mohave County Library at (928) 453-0718.
