You don’t have to travel to Memphis, Kansas City or Texas to get good barbecue. Just be here in Lake Havasu City from January 24th through the 27th for the 2013 Lake Havasu Music, Brews and BBQ Championship. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
Lake Havasu State Park’s Windsor #4 will be filled with hot music, cool brews and tasty BBQ. More than 80 professional competitive BBQ teams, 50 arts and crafts vendors and 20 other food vendors will be on-site throughout the entire four day event. You’ll also have the opportunity to sample several different micro brews, a perfect compliment to BBQ! You just need to be 21+ years old with a valid photo ID. Events kick off on Thursday, January 24th with a carnival (3pm to closing), pre-event party (at McKee’s Pub & Grill from 5:30pm to 12am) and judging class (6pm to 10pm). The opening ceremony takes place Friday at 10am. The People’s Choice chili competition takes place from 4pm to 8pm on Friday and 2pm to 5pm on Saturday. Awards for the BBQ competition will be handed out from 5pm to 6pm.
Sunday, January 27th is reserved for the brand new Backyard BBQ competition. This is open to any Lake Havasu resident that is not a professional BBQ-er but wants to show off their grill skills. Special awards will be handed out for the best of these competitors after 2pm. The carnival is open all day Thursday through Saturday. The Crossroads Auto & Bike Show will take place on Saturday afternoon. For more info, please call Skip Ramsden at (928) 208-2375 or email him at [email protected].
All the proceeds from the Lake Havasu Music, Brews and BBQ Championship will benefit local Lake Havasu City charities, including the Food Bank, Haven House and Havasu for Youth. Tickets are just $10 per person for all four days, $5 for a two day pass and free to children under the age of 12 for all four days. This family-friendly event is fun for everyone!
