With more than 300 days of sunshine per year, you better love it. Outdoor sports are a major past-time at the lake. So it makes sense that Havasu athletes would try their hand (and feet) at a Lake Havasu Plunge-N-Run Aquathlon.
On Saturday, September 8, 2012, athletes from Lake Havasu City and the surrounding areas will be competing in this land/water race to see who is the best. Competitors begin with a 500 meter swim on Lake Havasu at the Site Six lighthouse. After they’re done with that, they will be strapping on their running shoes for a five mile loop around the island. It’s a great opportunity for any tri-athlete to practice their transitional skills from water to land for the upcoming competitive season. Safety teams from the Lake Havasu Aquatic Center will be keeping an eye out for swimmers having trouble. Awards will be given to the top male and female in each age group (11 and under, 12-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 and over).
If you’re interested in participating in the Lake Havasu Plunge-N-Run Aquathlon, please contact IO Events at (928) 855-4887. The competition is limited to 300 people. Even if you aren’t a seasoned athlete, you can still cheer the competitors on. It is sure to be an awe-inspiring day in the sun at the lake whether you’re a competitor or a supporter.
