Kayaking and canoeing have become more and more popular in Lake Havasu over the past few years. With temperatures hitting triple digits into the fall, many people take to the lake to cool off and get some great exercise. Mesquite Bay North had previously been closed a decade before it opened up for paddle craft in just the last two years. In order to keep the area clean of debris, local Lake Havasu organizations are asking for volunteers to help with the Lake Havasu River Clean Up 2013.
What: Lake Havasu River Clean Up 2013
Where: Castle Rock Day Use Area, Crystal Beach
When: September 28th, 8am
In observance of National Public Lands Day, Havasu NWR and Friends of Bill Williams River and Havasu National Wildlife Refuges are holding their second annual cleanup of the Castle Rock water trail. They need 30 to 40 volunteers to paddle along the Colorado River, picking up trash and depositing it in the trash bags that will be issued upon arrival. While you are encouraged to bring your own kayak or canoe when you volunteer for the Lake Havasu River Clean Up 2013, you don’t need to own one to participate. Luckily, a local Lake Havasu kayak outfitter has graciously donated kayaks for the event.
Help keep our lake beautiful and available for everyone to use. Volunteer for the Lake Havasu River Clean Up 2013 today. For more information, please call Allan Murray at (928) 667-4144 ext. 28.
