There are several ways to enjoy our gorgeous Lake Havasu: boating, jet-skiing, swimming, para-sailing or even just lounging on the beach. But if you really want an up close and personal look at the lake from a different angle, trying canoeing. Paddle Lake Havasu with the Outrigger Canoe Club. Everyone is welcome.
Every Saturday, from 6am to 8am, before the mad dash of boaters hit the water, members of the Outrigger Canoe Club meet at Paddler’s Beach for a run at the lake. Paddler’s Beach is located next to the RC race track on Rotary Park’s north end. Moving canoes starts at approximately 5:45am. When you row with the club, you will learn how to work together as a team to work a six man outrigger canoe as well as safety techniques so you’re prepared in case of a water emergency. While their competition paddlers practice every Tuesday and Thursday morning and evening, Saturday is a great time for the recreational paddler to take advantage of the club’s knowledge and expertise as well as enjoy the calm of the morning Lake Havasu waters. It’s also a wonderful, fun way to get some serious exercise in.
If you’re interested in joining up with the Outrigger Canoe Club, please contact David Vidad either via phone (928-855-5565) or email ([email protected]). Get some exercise, learn water safety from some experts, have fun and take advantage of the water in a new way by paddling Lake Havasu. Bring a bit of the Pacific Islands into your day.
