The waters are churning on the lake this week as the world finals for wave hoppers takes place in Havasu. The 31st Annual IJBSA World Finals is currently underway and will continue through to Sunday, October 7, 2012. Crazy Horse Campgrounds is watercraft central during this week long event.
Over 400 athletes will be competing for the title of World Champion during the World Finals on our very own Lake Havasu. While Americans have dominated this field in the past, thanks in large part to the fact that it was developed on our shores, interest in personal watercraft as a sport has increased internationally. Last year’s World Finals saw competitors from more than 30 different nations. Several even won top honors. This year, 40 nations will be represented. To commemorate and honor these international athletes, the IJSBA will be hosting a Parade of Nations through the Channel, under Lake Havasu’s London Bridge, at 7pm on Thursday, October 4th.
Races will be held from 8am to sundown throughout the week. Winners will be announced and awards handed out on Sunday, October 7th. Everyone in Lake Havasu City is welcome to watch the racers compete absolutely free of charge. So, come on down to the Crazy Horse Campgrounds to cheer on your favorites as the World Finals for wave hoppers comes to Havasu.
