As temperatures go up, everyone takes to the lake. That is the Lake Havasu lifestyle after all. And over the next week, visitors and residents get to enjoy Lake Havasu fireworks, music and lots of other summertime fun.
Havasu Music
What: Rockin’ the Dock Summer Summer Concert
Where: Havasu Landing Resort & Casino
When: Saturday, June 30th, 9 am to 7 pm
Admission: FREE
Contact: Havasu Landing (760) 858-4592 ext 251 or via email
Waterslides, sandcastles, and good old rock music set the stage for a great day of summer fun. Things kick off with a sandcastle competition at 9 am. Anyone can enter. All you have to do is go to the Havasu Landing offices anytime between now and 10 am on the day of the event. Judges will visit each entry at 12:30 pm, with winners announced shortly thereafter. The waterslide opens to the public at 10 am and stays open until 4 pm. And you won’t want to miss the Littletown Band as they perform boot-stompin’ country music right there on the dock.
Lake Havasu Fireworks
What: 4th of July Fireworks Show
Where: Thompson Bay
When: Wednesday, July 4th, 9 pm to 9:30 pm
Next Wednesday, the nation celebrates its 242nd birthday. And we do it the only way we know how; with a Lake Havasu fireworks show right over the water. Rotary Park and Nautical Beachfront Resort provide the best places to view this official display of pyrotechnic excellence. However, the less crowded London Bridge Beach also offers a great vantage point. Now, if you’ve been playing on the water all day and just don’t feel like coming in, drop anchor (both bow and stern) inside Thompson Bay. Just do it early because it tends to get crowded here, too. Also, make sure your boat or personal watercraft has proper lighting installed. Otherwise, you may face a $205 fine from the local police (and they’ll be out in droves on July 4th).
Tune your radio to KNTR 980AM at 9 pm for a musical simulcast to accompany the light show above. And, please, keep your pets at home. Their ears are much more sensitive than ours. Loud noises not only frighten them but could actually damage their hearing. Above all, stay safe…for your sake and those around you. Happy Birthday, America!
