What do Lake Havasu City and pineapples have in common? Nothing, really, but it makes for a fun day at the lake. The Lake Havasu Hospitality Association is sponsoring Lake Havasu’s 4th Annual Great Pineapple Race tomorrow evening, September 13, 2012. Five man/woman teams of local Lake Havasu firefighters, police officers, city council members and other “pineapples” will compete against each other in outrigger canoes to find out who the Big Kahuna of the lake really is.
This year, there will be 21 teams competing in the Lake Havasu Pineapple Race, including local restaurants, real estate agents, businesses and other Hospitality Association members. Costumes are encouraged and rewarded. Prizes will be given to those participants whose costumes epitomize the “Native Havasuvian Outrigger”. Hamburgers, hot dogs, beer and wine will be made available for purchase at Rotary Community Park during the event tomorrow night. You must be at least 21 years of age with a valid photo ID to purchase and consume any alcoholic beverage, of course. Live entertainment is scheduled for the evening as well.
Admission to watch the teams compete at Lake Havasu’s Great Pineapple Race is absolutely free. So, come down to Rotary Community Park tomorrow evening from 5pm to 7pm to root your favorite teams on to victory. It is sure to be fun for the entire family.
