One of the great things about living in Lake Havasu City is that we enjoy some pretty amazing weather, even during the winter. Many of our residents remain active no matter what time of year it is. It isn’t uncommon to see someone running along the desolate Lake Havasu stretch of Hwy 95 in the middle of summer, when most of us are tooling around with the air conditioning cranked up. So, it makes sense that Lake Havasu would host its own half marathon.
Whether you’re a seasoned runner, have recently taken up the regimen or prefer a brisk stroll, the London Bridge Half Marathon 2013 has something to offer you. More than 1000 athletes of all skill levels have come to Lake Havasu each year to participate. Now in its sixth year, the former Lake Havasu Half Marathon has evolved into one of the largest in Western Arizona. This year’s race takes place on Saturday, April 13th. Runners/walkers will begin at London Bridge Beach, travel a course around the island, pass over our famous London Bridge, head up London Bridge Road and then finish back at London Bridge Beach. A festival of fun awaits all participants after they cross the finish line.
As part of this year’s half marathon, event organizers are partnering with the MORE Foundation. MORE turns used shoes into jobs and training for poor African families to help them improve their way of life. The London Bridge Half Marathon and the MORE Foundation are requesting that you bring in your old but still functional running shoes to donate to the cause.
